ELLWANGER GARDEN CELEBRATES 150 YEARS
OPEN TO PUBLIC WEEKENDS DURING LILAC FESTIVAL
The Ellwanger Garden, brimming with rare and beautiful perennials, is celebrating its 150th anniversary and is open to the public during the Lilac Festival weekends. Located at 625 Mt. Hope Avenue, Rochester’s “secret garden” is maintained by The Landmark Society of Western New York. There are few other sites in Rochester or New York State where you can see such a wide variety of flowers in a relatively compact garden, including rare and historic varieties.
The garden will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Lilac Festival weekends of May 13-14 and 20-21. Look for signs directing to nearby off-site parking. Admission is free; a suggested $5 donation is appreciated to help maintain the Garden.
