Neighborhood Fire Hydrants Now Sporting Blue, Green, Yellow & Red Poles

Inquiring minds have asked:  The colors of the markers signify the approximate flow capacity of the hydrant, in accordance with American Water Works Association recommendations. Blue indicates an approximate flow capacity in excess of 1,500 gallons per minute (gpm); green indicates a capacity between 1,000 and 1,500 gpm; orange (or yellow) indicates a capacity between 500 and 1,000 gpm and red indicates a flow capacity less than 500 gpm.
