HOME REPAIR GRANTS
SEAC provides grants to low-to-moderate
income owner-occupants of residences (up to 4 units
in the southeast area of the city. At least 50% of
the money must be used to address issues that either
prolong the useful life of the home OR repair structural
and/or basic building systems that threaten the health
and safety of the occupants. Interior or exterior work
may be done. Preference will be given to first-time
applicants or to those needing emergency repairs. SEAC
is currently offering the following grants:
AHC (Affordable Housing Corporation)
AHC is a matching grant,
which means that the homeowner must supply 40% of the
total cost of the project. SEAC may have
additional grant money to help pay the 40%.
The maximum grant amount
is $5,000.
Eligible applicants may not have liquid assets (cash,
securities, mutual funds,
insurances, CD’s or any other savings or
investments) in excess of $15,000.
Retirement accounts and real property (house, land and
attachments) are not included.
Homeowner must occupy residence for a minimum of two
years following grant-related work; failure to do so
requires recapture of a percentage of repair funds
provided.
RAP (Residential Assistance Program
RAP
grants are used primarily for emergency repairs,
including roofs, furnaces, windows, porches, painting
and repairs to structure.
The
total of RAP funds cannot exceed $3,500 in a 4-year
period for any one property.
FHLB (Federal Home Loan Bank)
The
maximum grant amount is $5,000; it may be combined with
other available funding
Homeowners must have occupied the home for at least 5
years prior to application and must occupy residence for
a minimum of five years following grant-related work;
failure to do so requires recapture of a percentage of
repair funds provided.
Eligible applicants must fall within the following
income guidelines:
Households of 1-2 people may not earn more than $30,050
Households that contain 3 or more people may
not earn more than $36,858
